Things Are Opening Up: How To Ensure Portable Toilet Safety During Coronavirus Crisis

Jon Sanchez

As more of the country opens up from the coronavirus shutdown, more events will be planned. Some of those events will need portable restrooms. If you'll be hosting an event that requires portable toilets, take precautions. You'll need to take extra steps to ensure the safety of your participants. Here are some steps that will help protect your participants.

Choose the Right Toilets

If you'll be renting portable toilets for your outdoor events this summer, be sure to choose the right units. The first thing you want to do is choose flushable toilets. That way, waste is disposed of properly. Also, you want to choose portable toilets that are pedal-powered. That means a foot pump is used for the flushing action. Without that option, your guests will need to use their hands to flush the toilets. Foot pedals help reduce germ transfer.

Rent Enough Units

If you need portable toilets for your outdoor events this summer, rent extra units. You want to ensure adequate space between the units. You also want to make sure that you have enough units to avoid lines. Once you have your units, be sure to place them at least six feet from each other. That way, your guests can continue social distancing while they're in line for the toilets.

Include Handwashing Stations

If you want to keep your guests safe this summer, include handwashing stations. Covid-19 can be left behind through touch. Because of that, your guests will need to wash their hands. This is especially important after using the portable toilet facilities. Handwashing will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 through your event. It's also important to include handwashing stations throughout the event. This includes areas away from the restroom facilities. The additional handwashing stations will help keep your guests healthy and safe. Be sure to include antibacterial soap, as well.

Ensure Frequent Cleaning

If you'll be renting portable toilets, you'll need to keep them clean. Under normal conditions, it's a good idea to clean your portable toilets at least once a day. The threat of COVID-19 increases the need for cleanliness. It's important that you clean and sanitize your portable toilets several times a day. This includes sanitizing all high-risk areas such as doorknobs and toilet seats. It's also important that you empty trash cans several times a day, as well.

Don't take chances with your portable toilets. Reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Use the tips provided here to ensure sanitary conditions during your summer events.
